History cont.

- The earliest programme we have in our historic
records is dated October 3rd, 1925. This in fact is published as the 23rd Annual
Swimming Gala held at the Corporation Baths, Fountain Street, Morley.
The
President at this time was Mr Peter Bradley, Esq. The Vice Presidents :
Councillors J Harrop, D Moss, D Dickinson, M Dixon; H Scarth, H.N
Pilkinton, H.F. Ingle, F Garside, T B Pease, H Pinder, L Pyrah, A Dance,
J W Hargreaves, J Crowther and W Clough.
The club Secretary at the time was Mr G R Ainsworth.
A committee of twelve and an official handicapper completed the list of
officials.
|
- The Notice to Competitors included an instruction
that swimmers must wear A.S.A. regulation costumes with drawers underneath (how
times have changed), and all objections had to be made to the Secretary
immediately after the race along with a deposit of five shillings (a great
amount in those days). The amount being returned if the complaint was upheld
otherwise it was forfeited.
